Technical documentation & revisions
Plant documentation ages faster than it is maintained. After the third rebuild without feeding changes back, a drawing is not merely wrong – it is unusable. And nobody notices that in normal operation, only during a fault at three in the morning.
We bring existing documents up to date and keep them there: structured, traceable and revision-proof. That includes recording the actual state as well as feeding changes cleanly back into the as-built.
The first step is almost always an honest survey. How far does the documentation deviate from the plant? Which expansion stages made it in, which did not? Only once that is clear can effort be estimated seriously – before that, any figure is a guess.
Then comes structure. Plant documentation is only worth something when maintenance staff, contractors and your own design office all find the same thing in it. Labelling, plant structure and filing decide that, not the number of pages.
We explicitly take on the unglamorous parts too: maintaining instrument lists, holding the labelling system, recording changes nobody enjoys entering. That is exactly where documentation otherwise fails.

Survey
We compare documentation and plant and record the deviations. The result is a reliable statement of what is missing – and what the rest will cost.

Agree the structure
Labelling, structure and filing are agreed. Where a grown system exists, we continue it.

Reworking
Documents are completed, corrected and transferred into the target structure – section by section, so operation can continue.
- 04
Keeping it current
So the state does not drift again, we agree who enters changes in future. On request we take that on permanently.

Documentation is good when a maintenance engineer finds what they are looking for during a fault, without prior knowledge. Not when it is complete.

Frequently asked
How do you estimate effort when the state is unclear?
You do not – which is why every such project starts with a bounded survey. That is calculable and provides the basis for everything else. Anyone quoting a total beforehand is guessing.
Does the plant have to shut down for this?
Usually not. Recording happens during operation, and the reworking happens at the desk anyway. Only individual checks need an agreed time slot.
Can you take over paper archives?
Yes. Paper and scans are the norm for older plants. How that becomes a maintained CAE project is described under legacy drawing digitisation.
